It is a sobering reality that as much as three-quarters of the world’s energy consumption has persistently been lost in the form of waste heat. In this era—characterized both by the rapid proliferation of power-intensive AI data centers and the urgent global imperative to achieve carbon neutrality—such inefficiency can no longer be tolerated. Humanity must now confront this wastefulness with resolve and innovation.

It is in direct response to this critical challenge that our thermal insulation material, TIISA®, emerges as a transformative solution. Invented by the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) and now being commercialized by our company, TIISA® achieves what was once thought incompatible in the realm of aerogels: combining exceptionally low thermal conductivity with unprecedented cost in manufacturing.

With the support of substantial public funding, we are actively refining our mass production technologies and conducting extensive demonstration projects. Beginning with roof coatings for large-scale buildings in Southeast Asia and Japan, we are poised to bring about paradigm shifts across a range of sectors—including liquefied hydrogen storage tanks, home appliances, and secondary batteries.

Core Technology

TIISA® is an advanced thermal insulation material developed by the National Institute for Materials Science in Japan. Thermalytica Inc. was founded to promote the use of this innovative material across a range of industries, including aerospace, energy-saving, green buildings, semiconductors, EVs, hydrogen energy, and LNG thermal power generation. Our efforts are supported by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and through collaboration with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
